I remember spending my summers with my grandma in Swan River. We took the train from Gillam, MB to Swan River. The old CN Erwood line from Hudson Bay, SK to Swan River, MB was still in operation.

I came back to the valley to visit some friends and relatives in the last few years and sad to see the valley deteriorating. The rail line was part of the valley. Sad to see the old elevators go including the old 20 storey cement elevator that was torn down in 2007.

Many wonderful memories.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18301512122871333099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18600515.post-88480387264900742192015-07-31T16:49:45.586-05:002015-07-31T16:49:45.586-05:00it's great to see that some of those old eleva...it's great to see that some of those old elevators are still in use. not many in southern manitoba still are.Bradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16156857906965136207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18600515.post-82825065086943739552015-07-18T10:04:14.510-05:002015-07-18T10:04:14.510-05:00Thanks, Glen. It's quite thin and would probably work well for your miniature elevators.
Canadian Train Geekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05525092107895665275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18600515.post-86743534312419847212015-07-18T06:55:52.535-05:002015-07-18T06:55:52.535-05:00Another great series Steve.

I could sure use some of that aluminum cladding they have for some of the miniature elevators I am cobbling together. I see there is some contact info at the end of that Cargill notice. Have to look into that.
That heat blur shot of Thunderhill Jct. is captivating, couldn't take my eyes off of it. Sort of mesmerizing.
The Birch River elevator is a classic.
Should be saved.
Good stuff Steve.

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00163705918646580867noreply@blogger.com
