So when does the road industry go green?

Rail Industry to Go Green Under Government Plan

Basically following the EPA's emission reduction plan as far as I can tell.

All well and good... but when is the government going to stop building more roads and instead encourage people to use public transit? THAT is where the real emissions savings are. We need more public transit and the government needs to fund it in a big way.

Ain't it the truth.

This province is so transport-oriented it's not funny. it bothers me to drive to Woodstock, Saint John, etc. from here in Fredericton and see hundreds of transport trucks beating our highways down into dust hauling shipments better shipped by rail.

But what can you expect? The major systems long ago abandoned Atlantic Canada and LCL shipments in favor of the western model of multi-car shipments or no service from customers.

Today all we have from the one system left are two super-long intermodals that even the crews don't like.
