CN Charlottetown Yard

Here's another photo I won off eBay. This one features CN's Charlottetown yard, especially the turntable. Note the roundhouse to the right and the caboose in the background. The photo was taken in July 1986.

Looking at that picture, I'm trying to think of the exact location of it. I know that it's near the harbour, but so much as changed since the railway was abandoned, there's nothing to pin point the exact location, as it looks so different now (landmarks, etc.)

That's Founder's Hall on the right side... http://goo.gl/maps/VEjys

You can see the small building that the train's beside. I only moved to Charlottetown in 2003 from Summerside, and was born in '85 so I don't remember the railway, so I'm not as familiar with building locations as native ch'towners would be but it looks like the buildings likely have been moved at some point, specifically the small building was likely moved...

Great photo though!

Thanks for the name of Founder's Hall and especially the Google link. You can see that the building almost in line with the turntable is still present. It looks a lot nicer now but the window arrangement on the Google Image version is identical to the photograph above.

No problem! I was looking for photos of the old Charlottetown Rail Yard and came across your pic... I also came across these photos from around PEI and in Charlottetown from years gone by... The railway has been gone since 1989.
