I miss those NBEC MLW / Alco units.
Here's train 591 (the Dalhousie turn) with NBEC 1813 and 1857, in the evening of October 6, 2003.
A little further south, NBEC 1845 brought a short woodchip train from the Nepisiguit Subdivision into Bathurst on May 28, 2007.
One more... with a different Alco, a C-424. NBEC 4230 and RS-18 NBEC 1840 were en route from the port in Miramichi to the yard on September 20, 2002. This was "back in the day" when the C-424s were on yard duty in Miramichi.

NBEC Power Update

NBEC 1867 in Miramichi, NB on September 14, 2004.
Canadian Railway Observations is reporting that ex-CFMG SD40 units 6902, 6903, and 6906-6910, as well as RS-18s ex-OCRR 1838, ex-NBEC 1857 and 1867 are all going to Alabama to be parted out and scrapped.
The last time I saw 1867 was on November 7, 2006 in Miramichi, in the middle of our War Bride train chase.
By the way, if you haven't read Canadian Railway Observations yet, you should really check it out.

Two More Gone

NBEC 1857 in Miramichi, February 9, 2005.
I guess Saturday was the last revenue run for CFMG 6909. It and NBEC 1857 left Campbellton this afternoon on their way to CN's shops in Woodcrest, Illinois.
CFMG 6910 is the last ex-QRC SD40 left in New Brunswick. I'm sure it will be gone in a day or two as well.

RS18s

NBEC 1857 in Miramichi, February 9, 2005
NBEC 1857 is in the ERS shops getting ready to depart for "a better life" elsewhere.
NBEC 1849 is in Sept Isles, but is due to be retired when it returns. There are some buyers interested in the RS18s.
There are a few other RS18s around Campbellton that need work before they can leave, along with C424 NBEC 4235.
There might have been a plow extra yesterday east of Chandler to deal with the big snow drifts. The Chaleur didn`t make it to Gaspe on Friday.

NBEC Videos
Chris aka clam502 posted a video of NBEC 1857 from Saturday morning on the Cascapedia subdivision, with a loaded lumber car and five ballast cars.
Michel Boudreau aka NBECMich braved the bugs to film VIA 615 near Petit Rocher on its way back to Montreal. The first unit looks like a Spiderman unit and the second is the CBC unit 6403.
Chris then shot the same train at Dalhousie Junction in the fading light. I like the mood of this video, with the car lights against the late evening sky.
Thanks for posting, guys!
