New Photo Book on the DAR

David Othen has produced a new photo book, this time on the Dominion Atlantic Railway - The Last 25 Years.

The DAR was Canadian Pacific Railway's subsidiary in Nova Scotia that at one time ran from Yarmouth to Windsor Junction, with running rights into Halifax. The Windsor & Hantsport is operating on a small portion of what the DAR used to be.

1931 Dominion Atlantic Railway Employee Timetable

There is a scanned copy of the June 21, 1931 Dominion Atlantic Railway employee timetable online at the DAR DPI. I love employee timetables.

In later years the DAR's timetable was combined with CPR's timetable. It looks like it happened between 1968 and 1972, because the April 28, 1968 timetable does not have the DAR lines in it, but the April 18, 1972 employee timetable does.

Dominion Atlantic Railway

A fellow named Steven Meredith has created a site to preserve the history of the Dominion Atlantic Railway (DAR). The DAR was a shortline of the Canadian Pacific in Nova Scotia that ran from Windsor Junction to Yarmouth. The remnant of the DAR is owned by the Windsor & Hantsport Railway.
