Why Wear a Poppy

Poppies at the Bény-sur-Mer cemetery in France
For our thanks, in giving, if oft delayed,
Though our freedom was bought - and thousands paid!
And so, when we see a poppy worn,
Let us reflect on the burden borne
By those who gave their very all
When asked to answer their country's call
That we at home in peace might live.
Then wear a poppy! Remember - and Give!
- excerpt from "Why Wear a Poppy" by Don Crawford

Just a quick post to honour our soldiers, who have fought and died for our freedom and our way of life. I want to honour the sacrifices of the men and women who protect us from myriad dangers, and I want to thank their families who endure the hardships of being military families. Thank you all.

Please consider supporting our troops through the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services. They have a lot of great programs like the Support Our Troops Fund that supports soldiers and their families, and the Soldier On program to help sick and injured soldiers.
