But first, I understand the report from Irving's engineers on the Fredericton railway station is not due until at least mid-November. I hope it has some good news and that J.D. Irving will get started right away on preserving the station for the winter.
Now, the Halifax Chronicle-Herald weighed in on our station. Read the article

Hi Steve. I have a couple of questions for you. Have you heard anything about Irving developing a major sand pit operation down the south line? There is quite a bit of talk about it here. Things like numerous trains a week and for many years potentially. Also there has been a lot of loads out of Domtar in Woodland lately, any idea if this will continue? Jody
Hi Jody, I have heard the rumours about a sand pit but I have no confirmation at all.
Didn't Domtar close its paper-making facility back in June or July? The loads must not be coming from there, unless they are getting rid of inventory.
Domtar shut down their paper line but they are still making woodpulp. Way too many cars to just be coming from Flakeboard. Some days as many as ten extra high capacity cars. Jody
Oh, OK, something I didn't know!
I heard they had too many cars on one of the runs this week and had to leave some behind. One engine has a hard time bringing more than 10 or so loads up the hill out of St. Stephen.
Good news for NBSR!
I spoke with one of the guys on the railway and he said they are shipping it to Montreal as well as Saint John for export.I think about ten cars went east on Thursday. I think it's kind of a trial run right now but hopefully it continues!
