The Chaleur is experiencing the same flooding that CN is. VIA 616 had to back up to Matapedia from mile 40 (near Carleton) due to a washout. They held at Matapedia for the late VIA 614 (the Ocean) to pass at around 10:45.
Ohhhh I am so sad about this! I am booked to take the Chaleur from Montreal to Carleton on Aug. 25, and then from Carleton to Gaspe on Aug. 28. I only just discovered this travel advisory at VIA's Web site. I just spoke with a nice woman at VIA who said they expect a "3-4 week" outage from the time of the flooding, until they can get the train past Matapedia again. I will hope that it's back in service for my trip on the 28th, but I guess I shouldn't count on it :-(
By the way, the link from your posting to an online article is broken.

Sorry to hear about that, leigh. I hope it will be back in service before your trip.
