Lest We Forget

Poppies in the Canadian War Cemetery, France

Today is Remembrance Day in Canada, or Veteran's Day in the USA. Today we honour those who served, fought and died in past wars, honour those who serve today, and hope for less or no war in the future. This Remembrance Day is particularly poignant with the senseless murders of Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Corporal Nathan Cirillo.

My wife and I were fortunate to be able to go to France and England back in late spring 2012. We visited Normandy on May 30-31 and toured the Mémorial de Caen, Juno Beach, the Normandy American Cemetery (seen in Saving Private Ryan), the German Military Cemetery, and of course the Canadian War Cemetery. I'm not ashamed to say I shed some tears viewing the graves of those brave men who fought for our freedom.

Lest we forget...

Thank you to those who have served in our military, those who are currently serving, and those who will serve. We will remember you.
