CN TEST Train

CN's TEST train has been noodling around the Maritimes in the past week or so. The train had the usual two blue cars.

Here's an okay video by NBEC69 of the TEST train with CN Geep 4770 pulling the train. Nice horn.

NBEC 402/403 Update

Saturday morning's CN/NBEC freight through Rimouski, Quebec had a little different power on it. SD40 units CN 5245 and 5241 powered a relatively short freight. The CN SD40 units were sidelined in favour of the NBEC/CFMG SD40s, but apparently the CN units are back.


It looks like Sunday's 402/403 was back to the former NBEC/CFMG power with CFMG 6906, CFMG 6902 and NBEC 6901 providing the muscle.

NBEC Videos

I found a few recent NBEC/CFMG videos to show what power is being run these days.

cfmgd is posting videos from sunny Rimouski, Quebec. Here CN 9461, NBEC 6901, and CFMG 6902 power a train on January 24, 2009. Great sound and some nice snowplowing.


Interestingly, NBEC69 shot a video at the same location the next day. No snow plowed, but still great sound with the diesel thrum and blowing for the crossing. This train had CFMG 6902, NBEC 6901 and CFMG 6910 for power.

NBEC SD40s Still At Work

NBEC69 taped three ex-QRC SD40 units leading the train through Rimouski, Quebec in the morning of Saturday December 27. NBEC 6901, CFMG 6906 and NBEC 6905 provided the power.


In the afternoon at mile 124.62 near Rimouski, with very dramatic noise:

The NBEC/CFMG SD40 units are still running on the mainline freights on the former Quebec Railway Corporation territories. Here are two videos from NBEC69 and one from David Chiasson. First, NBEC69's videos.

On Sunday December 7, CFMG 6903, NBEC 6905 and CN 5260 ran through Rimouski.


The same units again, in a different location.


Finally, because I love them so much, here's David's video showing NBEC RS-18s 1866 and 1814 powering the ore train through Nepisiguit Junction back on May 6, 2007. Listen to the squeal of metal on metal as they go through the curve!

CN on the Former CFMG

Young NBEC69 posted a few videos of CN engines on the former CFMG line. Here are CN SD75Is 5705 and 5703 leading the former CFMG freight through Rimouski on November 28.
