The Chaleur

CFMGD, aka Jean-Rafael Parent, posted a video of the same Chaleur that I saw last Monday. He shot it along the Gaspe line: at Chandler, and turning in Gaspe.


He also has a nice video of the combined Ocean/Chaleur through Rimouski. This was the eastbound train, not the one I saw.

The Chaleur in Gaspe

cfmgd aka Jean-Rafael Parent shot the Chaleur in Gaspe yesterday (Saturday). This video shows the train arriving at the station, then backing out. After turning on the wye, the train backs to the station. Finally, he shot it just outside Gaspe on its way back to Matapedia. Nice job!

Great Snowplow Videos

cfmgd posted two great snowplow videos.

The first has a Jordan spreader pushed by Dash 8 CN 2445 on March 4 2009 through Sacré Coeur, Quebec. It goes through the crossing all folded up, then unfolds one wing and plows the siding.


The day before, he caught a self-propelled snowplow (a "broom") plowing the same area.

NBEC Update

I see NBEC / CFMG SD40s are still on train 402 / 403. Chris M posted this video of NBEC / CN 402 on its way to Bathurst last Wednesday. It had CFMG 6903 and 6910 pulling a mere 8 cars.


cfmgd noted CFMG 6908 in Mont Joli last Sunday, together with a few QNS&L locomotives. He also saw a train with CFMG 6906, CN 5241 and CN 5245 in Sacré Coeur, Quebec recently.

NBEC Videos

I found a few recent NBEC/CFMG videos to show what power is being run these days.

cfmgd is posting videos from sunny Rimouski, Quebec. Here CN 9461, NBEC 6901, and CFMG 6902 power a train on January 24, 2009. Great sound and some nice snowplowing.


Interestingly, NBEC69 shot a video at the same location the next day. No snow plowed, but still great sound with the diesel thrum and blowing for the crossing. This train had CFMG 6902, NBEC 6901 and CFMG 6910 for power.

NBEC/CFMG SD40 Units At Work

cfmgd aka Jean-Rafael Parent posted some more videos of former NBEC and CFMG SD40 units at work in Quebec.

Here are NBEC 6905, CFMG 6906, NBEC 6901, and CFMG 6910 leading a long train through Rimouski, Quebec at 10:27 AM on December 29.


The same power, going back home in the same day.


This train was from the next day, January 30. It had three ex-NBEC SD40s with a CN SD40 in the fourth position.

CFMG and VIA Videos from CFMGD

Young CFMGD has posted some videos of VIA and CFMG.

Here is CFMG 6902 leading two other SD40 units at Rimouski (mile 125.0) with a decent length freight train.


Late at night, VIA's Ocean blows through Rimouski.
