Cellphone Video

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330. It has video capability and I have been curious what quality of video it takes. Given the tiny plastic lens, I did not expect much.

On August 13 I was getting some groceries at the Chaplin "grocery store" when I heard a train coming. I ran to the tracks, but all I had was my cellphone, so I shot video with that. You be the judge.

Here's another one on the same day.

Now that I have seen the video, I don't think I would even bother trying to use it!

I have the same phone.

It take reasonable shots that are closer up and well lit.

The first video was overcast and at a distance. The second was closer and had better lighting. The Curve is not designed to be a full service camera - it is a smart phone for calls and emails. Beyond that, it is functional but not high end.

The phone does take half decent still shots, but I am pretty disappointed with the video. I may try a better lit video later... assuming I don't have a better camera on hand.

Nice elevator/train shots, Steve. It's nice to see both still earning their keep, plus I appreciate your judicious use of time with in-laws to squeeze in some time trackside. My in-laws live beside the (former) CN Smiths Falls Sub, alas no longer any traffic.

Nice elevator/train shots Steve, and it's nice to see them both earning their keep. Also, your wise and judicious use of time with the in-laws. Mine live beside the FORMER CN Smiths Falls Sub, alas no longer any rails there.
