Special Flatcar Going to St Stephen
Gary Lee took some photos and video of the NB Southern local ready to go to St. Stephen for this morning. It has a special car on it, a depressed-center flat car. I wonder what load it will be picking up?
I would think as long as the bridges hold out, it should be OK. There is traffic to and from the Woodland facility in Maine, as well as some local traffic in St. Stephen (Ganong's and the flakeboard plant).
The last time I was through St. Stephen, which was a few months ago, I noticed some new ballast on the line in town so they must be planning on keeping it open for the next little while at least.
I'm a train geek (or #Railfans as they say on G+) and a "learning" photographer. But most of all I'm a father and husband. I used to be an army brat and traveled frequently when I was a child.
I try to be a decent person. Most times I succeed, sometimes I'm a jerk. I try to do better next time.

hey, is the St. Stephen line in danger of being abandoned due to its low traffic rate?

I've this flat car here in Calgary before. I'll have to dig up my pictures of it tonight and send it to you. Not sure if it is the same road number.
Cheers,
